How to keep the sun away?

When the UK summertime is at its peak, we have a need to think over how exactly we’re going to keep our homes cool throughout the day. There’s a flip side to enjoying the summer warmth and that is ensuring our homes are cool enough to be pleasant to live in.

You may be fortunate to have air conditioning or some kind of heat-reducing specialist glazing. But, for a lot of us, we are reliant on window treatments as a way of retaining an inner space coolness.

The sun’s rays have a really detrimental impact on furnishings too. So it’s not only about keeping the home’s interior nicely cool. There are a variety of solutions that can assist with this including those we talk about below.

Lined curtains

Curtains can also add a beautiful decorative benefit inside your living space. And, of course, curtains with additional lining do an excellent job of blocking the heat from the sun as well.

With curtains, it’s definitely a matter of you get what you pay for.

While offering good value for your money, off-the-shelf curtains will likely need some alteration to fit the dimensions of your window, plus they tend to have low quality lining that won’t do the job.

It’s worth investing in good quality curtains. Our curtains are made to your exact measurements, plus come with a choice of high-quality linings for added benefit.

Blinds

Blinds are a far less costly investment than formal window treatment. There are a variety of blinds available, including solar control roller blinds, solar control panel blinds, solar control vertical blinds, and solar control electric roller blinds.

All of these blinds are made to measure and there’s an array of different fabrics and styles from which to select. You can even order free samples to ensure you like the material and that blinds you choose will fit perfectly with your interior decor.

You can choose between light filtering fabric to benefit from exterior light but without overbearing heat or go for a blackout solar control fabric and enjoy a sense of seclusion and privacy in your room.

Blackout fabric

The least expensive option is blackout roller blinds. Good quality blackout fabric is the perfect antidote for keeping the brightest of the sun’s light out of your room and blocking the heat from the midday summer sunshine. They are also excellent for bedrooms, nurseries and for shift workers.

Blackout fabrics work well together with curtains. If you really want the most efficient sun-blocking mechanism you can combine blackout blinds with curtains with blackout lining.
A combination like this will cost you a little more but they are well worth paying if you want total exclusion of sunlight from your room.
