6 easy ways to make your house feel more like a home

You may spend a lot of time perusing over Pinterest but when it comes time to make your own home feel more like home - you may be a little unsure of where to start. Whether it’s some paintwork or the addition of a few new furnishings, here are 6 simple ways to bring a sense of freshness to your home in no time.

Rotate the artwork

Are your home’s walls cluttered up with dust-collecting pieces of artwork? If so, surely it’s a good time for a change around. You can separate your art into winter and summer piles. The lighter colours can be hung during the spring and summer months while the darker-coloured oil paintings are perhaps best suited to the remainder of the year. This is the sort of home refresh that can be achieved within a matter of a few minutes and at zero cost.

Invest in some new bedding

Bright, fresh bedding can really help to freshen up your personal space. Play around with various fabrics for your pillows, your cushions, and your throws. Make sure that at least one colour is shared so as to hold the aesthetic together.

Update the window dressing

Patterned vertical blinds and patterned replacement vertical blind slats are an excellent way to add some fresh window dressing to your rooms as well as ensuring privacy and shielding your home’s interior from the harsh summertime sunshine. Either that or try some beautiful, made-to-measure pencil pleat curtains for that added zest and freshness.

Get some new cushions

There are few things that can alter the look and appeal of a living room as cheaply and quickly as an array of interesting cushions. A neglected armchair can be brought back to life, a tired old sofa can be revived, or a plain, unappealing bed in the bedroom can be provided with some hotel-style touchup.

Repaint the woodwork

Give your window and door frames as well as your skirting boards some attention with a coat of paint that comes with a gloss finish. This way they’ll look smoother, brighter, and newer, helping your wall colours to stand out so much more than before.

Space out your shelving displays

It’s always tempting to clutter shelving with books and/or a variety of ornaments in an attempt to fill every inch of available storage space. But if you set some shelving aside for only the more interesting objects, you’ll be adding to a room’s sense of space and potentially creating an alluringly eclectic style statement.
